Fiesta Bowl!
When Troy found out BSU was playing in the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona, he IMMEDIATELY bought flights, game tickets and booked a hotel for him and I to go. We were able to get some amazing deals on a hotel, flights and a rental car and it was convenient my parents now live in the Salt Lake area and could watch Booker.
We drove to Lehi Monday morning and before we had to fly out we went to JCW's for some milkshakes with everyone. Most of us got a mini size, which turned out to be the size of a medium soft drink at most places, but Troy and my dad ordered smalls. Let's just say they weren't small in the least! They were huge! When the kid brought them out and Troy saw his milkshake he said, "I didn't order that!" They kid just replied, "Oh yes you did." Haha it was hilarious!
We flew to Arizona without any issues and made it to our hotel without getting lost!! It was a miracle!
Tuesday morning we saw the Hobbit finally, enjoyed some yummy food at the Cheesecake Factory and walked around the lights at the Mesa Temple grounds and visitor center. They were beautiful and the weather was wonderful. Not too cold but cold enough to feel like Christmas.
| These little lights were so cool! This picture does not do them justice. They looked like a bouquet of little flowers all a-glow. We loved them! |
The visitor center had an international nativity display which we walked through. I thought they were all so cute, cool, and beautiful and I took pictures of almost every single one in there, but Troy and I both thought the Japanese nativity was the best. I can totally see myself collecting international nativity sets someday when I have room to display them at Christmas time!
I'm so glad we decided to walk around the temple! It was beautiful and such a nice thing to do together.
Wednesday (New Year's Eve) was Gameday! We left the hotel early so we could get to the arena area early enough to get a good parking spot. We got an awesome spot and spent the morning walking around the outlet mall and tailgating festivities. One of the shops was a little candy store, stocked full of every kind of candy you could imagine. We resisted buying anything but I took a picture of the sugar overload.
The game started at 2pm so we headed into the stadium around 1230 and took everything in. Troy was so antsy and excited he couldn't hold still and we probably walked the stairs to our seats like 80 times!
The second we entered the stadium I could smell churros and knew I had to have one at some point. Let me tell you! That churro was the most delicious thing I had eaten I think in a long time haha. Before we had gotten back to our seats it was already half gone and when I finished it off Troy was baffled I could eat something so fast! I could have eaten 10 more I think :)
It was a very exciting game and BSU won 38 to 30. I think Troy was close to a heart attack toward the end. It was worth every cent and such a great memory.
After the game we ate dinner then got back to the hotel to watch the New Year's Eve party and the ball drop at midnight but we didn't stay awake long enough and missed it haha. But 2014 was a wonderful year, full of surprises and memories and I can't wait to see what 2015 brings. We already know it's going to be crazy, but with so many blessings to come!
Thursday we checked out of the hotel and started making our way to the airport when we witnessed a crazy car accident! We were the only witnesses so I called 911 and Troy acted as hero because one of the cars had totally flipped over and was upside down. He and the guys from the other car had to break the back window of the flipped car so the driver could crawl out, being as the car was starting to leak all sorts of fluids and smoking and the doors were stuck. Luckily no one was seriously injured and emergency personnel responded quickly.
It was crazy! It was one of those accidents you see in the movies and we watched it happen right in front of us!
After that we sat in the airport for a while waiting for our flight and eventually made it back to Salt Lake with no issues.
Oh and I can't forget to mention some of the adventures Booker had while staying with Grammy and Grampy!
He rode a little train, a carousel and probably ate treats galore while being spoiled with love! :)
He even got new Minion jammies :) hee hee
And this is him sending us kisses one night :) I am seriously the luckiest and most blessed mommy out there!
Now we are back to real life in freezing cold Pocatello, but the last couple of weeks have been wonderful. We find out what Baby is on Monday and then Tuesday we drive to Boise for more fun with the Lewis side!
Busy, busy but so much fun!!!
Happy New Year everyone! May 2015 bring you lots of love, laughter, and happiness!
