Home of the Hipster

I got to go to Portland, Oregon with Hayley a few weekends ago, for our long time friend Katie's wedding. Hayley was a bridesmaid and I just tagged along for fun.
I had been to Portland a few years ago for the first time with Troy when we went and visited a Chiropractic school up there. This time I got to rode trip it up with my sis and I got to sleep in my own queen sized bed for two nights :)
It was a great trip and we crammed in as much stuff as we possibly could!
First off here is Booker being a cheeser and showing off his new awesome shoes :)
And this is the picture I got Friday night from my boys at home ")
Friday we got up early and headed out. There were four of us in Hayley's car riding to Portland, Hayley, myself, Katie's aunt Jade, and Hayley's roommate Emily, who is from Portland area. We stopped once at a rest area and once for gas, but other than that we drove through the rain so we could get there and have as much time as possible to hang out.
Friday night was a party for Katie. We all went out for delicious Thai food and then had fun being girls and celebrating the bride.
Saturday we helped set up the reception house then headed to the beautiful Portland temple. I was privileged with being able to attend the sealing. Katie and Kip are the cutest, most perfect for each other couple and I could tell they were going to be happy together for eternity. I'm so glad I was able to be there for them!
Oh yeah and this person was there! I guess she would be being as Katie is her sister!
I'm so happy I got to see my Holly Jolly and spend some much needed time with her! It really sucks we live far away from each other :(
After the wedding, reception, and sending the Bride and Groom off, Hayley and I got to do some touristy things.
I should mention that when we first arrived in Portland Friday afternoon we got lost trying to get to the temple to meet Emily's parents. Troy and I also got lost a few times when we visited Portland.
Our plans included Powell's City of Books and Voodoo Doughnut. They were located close to each other and we had Google Maps GPS.
We found Powell's easily and quickly parked and ventured in. That place is huge!!!! I think we could have stayed there for a long time but we had more places to see.
I got Booker quite a few of my favorites that are hard to find now :)
When we walked out it was evening but not dark so we thought "Hey it's not too far to Voodoo Doughnut lets just walk." Right then it started to pour and we eventually decided against it, after debating for about ten minutes. So we drove but got lost along the way. By the time we found the place it was dark and the line out the door was wrapping around the block so we decided to try the other store  across the bridge. We also got lost to this one! There was a line a this one too but not nearly as long and it went really quick. We did eventually make it to the doughnuts and were rewarded with a delicious sight and smells.
They all looked delicious but I settled for a Portland cream (top left) and a Voodoo man. I also got Troy and Booker one to take home, an oreo and an M&M's. I bet you can figure out who's is who :)
Sunday morning we woke up and ate breakfast then went to say good bye to Holly and her adorable little girl, Ramsey. Her hubby Andy took the pic so we can blame him for the blurriness haha just kidding! (Kinda ;))
We stopped at Multnomah Falls on our way out of Portland. The weather was great while we were out and the entire drive home.
I'm so glad I was able to spend the weekend with my beautiful sister! It was nice to be able to be us again and laugh at weird things, get lost together, and bust out to Katy Perry, Yellowcard, and Les Mis. We need to do this more often Hay Hay!
Oh yeah so I noticed this while we were walking the falls trail… these little trail markers were put up on June 20, 2009 a.k.a the exact day Troy and I got married :) I just thought it was cool.
This was the last picture I got from home before they left for church. Such a cutie. Of course he smiles and acts all cute when Daddy takes his picture! Never for me though! :)
