Whistle while you work :)

I've had some things pinned on Pinterest, that pertain to cleaning, I have been wanting to try for awhile now. With the new year and Booker being sick, I finally decided to bust it out and see if they work! I totally should have taken before and after pics but didn't think of it til later, oh well.

The first is a mattress stain remover solution.
I was a little skeptical at first but decided to try it because it requires household supplies we already have, and I felt comfortable putting them on the bed and then sleeping on it again. Haha no major chemicals!
You need 8oz. Hydrogen peroxide, 3 Tbls. Baking soda, and 1 drop of liquid dish soap (any kind or color will do, doesn't make a difference, mine was orange).
Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle. You don't need to shake or stir the solution. The components from each ingredient will react with the others how it should on it's own.
Immediately spray solution onto the stains (I made sure each spot was thoroughly damp) and let air dry (I sprayed in the morning and it was dry by the time we went to bed).
Once you're done spraying, dump the remaining solution because it will stop working after about a half hour of being mixed together.
Easy! And it was amazing that it actually worked! The big stains were almost gone if not completely and there was not weird smell or residue left over. I was so excited to show Troy when he got home from work haha! He was pretty impressed too :)
This is difineltly something I am saving for when B starts potty training!!!! Awesome!

The second was cleaning my top-load washing machine.
We have our own washer and dryer, but they are in storage at Troy's parents' house because our apartment came with a washer and dryer. Thank goodness, because moving ours up three flights of stairs would have been horrible! Anyway... So nice to already have some here but who knows when the last time they were thoroughly cleaned was! It was making our stuff, especially the towels, smell a little weird so it was difineltly time to give this a go!
You need 1 quart chlorine bleach and 1 quart distilled white vinegar. That's it!
1. Fill washer with hot water and add the bleach. Let agitate for about a minute then let it sit for an hour.
2. After one hour, run the machine through it's longest wash and spin cycle.
3. When it's done immediately fill with hot water again and add the vinegar. Let it agitate for about a minute then let that sit for an hour.
While it was sitting, I took a rag and dipped it in the water/vinegar and used it to wipe down the outside and all the nooks and crannies.
4. After the hour, run the longest wash and spin cycle again.
Ta-da! You're done!
It's awesome! It smells so much better and runs a little smoother even. No more gunk build up in there no more! Super easy and totally worth it!

My next "project" is cleaning the couch! So bad! And maybe the dish washer? :)
Who knew I would actually enjoy cleaning!!??
