Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!
We took Booker to the zoo for the first time a few weekends ago, and I'm so glad we did it then because now it's too hot to even go outside!
He really likes animals so we knew the zoo would be a hit!
We started off looking at the prairie dogs, which he was indifferent to, then we went into the rainforest house where we saw these little parrots. Booker loves birds so he thought they were pretty cool and kept saying, "Bir! Bir!"
We then ventured over to the tigers but they were inside or something so we never saw them, so we continued to the Zoo Farm. There were sheep and goats and llamas that the kids to feed and pet through the fence. Booker walked right up to a goat and just stared at it for awhile until he saw another kid feeding it little pellet food.
My kid is so resourceful haha because as the other kid was feeding the goat, little pellet foods kept falling on the ground and the kid didn't seem to care or notice, so Booker would pick them up and feed them to the goats and sheep! He would probably have done this all day if we would have let him. He thought it was so fun feeding them and petting them and we finally left because he started trying to KISS them!!!!
Such a weirdo haha but at least he's not a scaredy kid I guess.
After the goats we went into the butterfly house. I am not a big fan of letting bugs land on me, even if they are harmless butterflies, hence the face below. Booker at first was a little unsure when he saw them land on us but then he just wanted to grab them. Only one landed on Booker's head the whole time we were in there and it flew away before I could snap the pic.
Troy doesn't mind though :) and it even matches his shirt!
After that we found the carousel :)
I let Booker hold the dollar it cost and as you can see it's making it's way into his mouth haha. I had to keep stopping him right before it got into his mouth until we got up to the lady and he promptly handed it over to her.
We of course sat on a zebra!!!! He wasn't too sure at first but when it started going he really like it!
So this guy is new...
I guess it's important that our kids see dinosaurs at the zoo now because they're everywhere in real life???
They had a bunch of them around the zoo and they move and make noises too. Booker would just stare at them haha.
My favorite... ZEBRA!!!
Troy's favorite... PENGUINS :) This picture is so cute of them together.
At the end of our zoo adventure, we had the opportunity to feed a giraffe!! Oh my gosh it was the coolest thing ever!
We got three pieces of lettuce and when it was our turn we just walked on up and handed it to Mr. Giraffe. I gave the first two pieces to Booker and told him to give it to the giraffe, and he did! He just put his arm up and handed it right into his mouth.
The giraffe's tongue was so weird though! It's black, 18 inches long, and feels like somewhat wet sandpaper.
It was the high light of the day I think :)
Oh, and this is our attempt at keeping Booker awake on the drive home...
we handed him a straw haha.
He just held it and by the time this picture was finished being snapped he was asleep with it in his hand :)
What a fun day with our little family :) Can't wait for Booker to get older and want to have more adventures like this!
