The Padre's Bday Bash

Being as my mom and dad's birthdays are only a day apart and we were all there for Thanksgiving, we had a birthday bash. Dad turned 50 this year so he is officially an old man and Mom is close behind at 47 :) 

Being as he turned 50 we HAD to give him some old man gifts! These included: blind man glasses, a magnifying glass for reading, some prunes and a diaper (which Booker was kind enough to share), and a walker! Haha that was the best part! We also got him an ugly sweater for his Christmas work party and a Christmas Story shirt with Ralphy that says "Oh Fudge." I think he got a kick out of it and enjoyed the gifts. We also got him a giant, 5 pound Hershey chocolate candy bar which was HUGE!! That was the big hit and we know he loved it!

For Mom this year, Hayley gave her a beautiful handmade Hawaiian vase, Preston and Kelsey got her a Kindle gift card to buy books, and I made her a Harry Potter cover for her Kindle. 

It was fun watching them open their gifts and get a good laugh watching Dad with his walker!

 The candy bar was so big!!! 5 pounds is a lot of chocolate! Being as it was so thick Dad couldn't just bite pieces off so he had to use his screwdriver and hammer as a chisel to break off pieces to eat. So Funny!!!! He loved it!

I also made a cake for the bash which consisted of a chocolate cake layer, cream cheese frosting, a brownie layer, cream cheese frosting, and another chocolate cake layer, then all covered in a chocolate chocolate chip frosting, topped with a 47 and a 50 candles. It was 

 So delicious! 

It was a great birthday bash and I'm so glad we were able to be there to celebrate with them :)
