Booker's Surgery

Today Booker had his little surgery at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake. His pee pee hole was a little too big and needed to be stitched up slightly. It was a very simple surgery and we were done and back by 6 this evening.
We got to the hospital and checked in at about 11am. We went over everything and got Booker in his adorable little gown and sent him back with the doctors. He was smiling, laughing, and talking to everyone and they said when they gave him the sleeping gas he fell asleep happy and smiling. They had some trouble finding a vein for his IV so they had to poke around for a while (he was asleep the entire time) until they got one to work.
Pre surgery smiles! So cute in his little robot gown
When Troy and I sat down in the waiting room after leaving Booker, I confess I had a small emotion/nervous meltdown. After I got the couple of tears out everything was fine and I knew he was in excellent hands.
His surgery went extremely well, with no complications and he was out after about an hour and a half.
When he was out I was able to go back and see him, where I found him screaming and crying having just woke up from anesthesia and being extremely hungry. As soon as I took him he stopped crying and snuggled up to me. That is until he realized he was starving haha. He downed about 10 ounces of formula within an hour and felt much better.
Sleepy post surgery baby. He needed extra mommy snuggles and I was more than happy to oblige :)
We had to stick around for a while as they monitored him and were finally able to leave around 3:30pm. He had a hard time in the car at first but eventually the pain killers kicked in and he slept the entire drive home.
Once we got home he seemed as if nothing had happened and was as busy as ever! Hopefully that's a good sign that his recovery won't be too bad...
He did so good and was such a big boy all day! I'm a proud, relieved, and somewhat emotionally drained mommy right now but I'm glad we got this done. The doctors and hospital staff were wonderful and our experience there was great. They took excellent care of my baby and I'm so thankful for talented and experienced physicians and nurses.
Hopefully we won't be needing anymore surgeries ever and that this one will heal quickly.
