Troy and I just took a quick trip down to California to visit a Physical Therapy school in Azusa (just out of L.A.). We were able to leave Booker at home with my mom and Kelsey so we had about 2 1/2 days of baby free fun!
We flew out of Salt Lake City Thursday evening and landed at LAX around 9pm, right on time. Instead of parking the plane and getting off like normal though, we had to sit on the plane for an extra hour and a half because our gate was being used for another plane! So dumb! We FINALLY got off the plane and made it to our rental car place. The car we were so privileged to drive on this trip was a one and only Kia Soul. SO UGLY!!! Troy and I make fun of these cars so much and swore we would never drive one haha! Oh well it got us around.
We then made our way to our hotel in Pomona which is about 30-40 minutes from the airport. Using the GPS on my phone we got there but only after finding that the exit we needed was closed and winging it from the freeway to the hotel.
Friday morning we woke up, got ready, and drove the short 15 minutes to Azusa Pacific University in Azusa and met faculty and students, took a tour, and had lunch. The graduate campus was really small but really nice and we enjoyed our time there. Now we just wait and see if Troy gets and interview.
We decided, after leaving the school, to be tourists for the day :) First we stopped by the Physical Therapy school in Pomona called Western University of Health Sciences and saw a little more of Pomona.

Then we drove over to Hollywood and saw the sign, saw Sunset Blvd., made our way to Hollywood Blvd., ate at the Hard Rock Cafe, saw some celebrity stars on the sidewalks, drove to Beverly Hills, happened upon the temple, and finally reached Santa Monica Pier and Ocean Ave.

Being as it was dark we couldn't see the ocean really great but we did walk on the beach and stand in the water. The sand was amazingly soft and we were pleasantly surprised that the water wasn't as cold as we thought it was going to be. We walked the pier and took pictures at the Route 66 sign, then played a game of Air Hockey at the arcade. Troy dominated 7-2. The 2 goals I actually got were make ups for the 2 I gave him by scoring on myself :( it was fun none-the-less. We were really excited to ride the rides at the amusement park on the pier but found out that the park was closed because a company had rented it out for their party. We didn't really want to wait until it was open again so we headed back to the hotel (45 minute drive) and got In-N-Out Burger on the way.

Saturday we slept in and barely woke up in time to check out at 11am! Good thing I happened to roll over at 10:40 and realize we only had 20 minutes haha. We checked out and left our hotel and Pomona and headed toward the beach. We decided to hit up Manhattan Beach being as it was close to the airport and sounded nice. On our way there we ended up exiting sooner than we should have and found our selves in Little Mexico. We were seriously the only white people for miles! Kinda sketchy. So we got out of there as fast as we could and eventually made it onto Manhattan Beach Blvd.

| Troy said that I have now been to three different Manhattans... Manhattan, Kansas (born there), Manhattan, New York, and now Manhattan Beach, California |

The beach, pier, and little town were beautiful and I wish we could have spent more time there. We went down on the beach and in the water. Troy, instead of taking off his socks and shoes like any normal person would, decided he would be able to dodge the waves. Of course this didn't work and pretty soon his pants, socks and shoes were drenched. He had to live with his actions the rest of the day and the entire journey home.
The trip was so much fun and we wish it could have been longer. It was nice to be by ourselves again and get a little break from Booker and Logan. So thankful for Mom and Kelsey for coming to watch the Little Man.Now we have to adjust back to the cold weather of Logan... Ugh.
