Booker James Lewis
He is finally here!!!
After waiting and waiting we finally hit our due date on March 18. Because of hospital rules we had to wait another week to be induced unless he decided to come on his own. We were scheduled to go into Labor/Delivery to begin our induction on Sunday evening March 25. When we called about going in they told us we had to wait because they were crazy busy with girls coming in. So they said they would call when they had an opening and we settled down for the night. We got into bed at 930pm and at 940pm I felt my water break! We grabbed our stuff, got in the car and were admitted by about 10pm. I still wasn't dilating so they started petocin and we went to sleep. Monday came along and we were making slow progress. I got my epidural and by about 540pm I was finally dilated to a ten so we started pushing. I pushed for two hours with no change in baby's position and we made the decision to have a c-section. After being in labor for 21 hours and pushing for two, the doctor told us I could keep trying to push baby out but she didn't think anything would happen so hence the c-section.
At first I was shaken up and nervous, it wasn't really what I had
planned but after a blessing from Troy and my dad I was wheeled away and at 814pm Troy and I were officially parents to our beautiful baby boy, Booker James Lewis.
Booker weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long at birth. He was the most perfect thing I had ever seen and other than a few squeaks to let us know he was fine he didn't cry at all. He did have a little trouble breathing completely fine at first but Troy thinks, and I agree, it is because he was delivered by c-section and unlike vaginal births his lungs weren't pressed coming out so he just had to figure it out and it took a little longer. He is perfectly fine and there is nothing to worry about.
Booker is such a calm, easy going little guy who loves to cuddle with mommy and daddy. He makes some of the funniest faces already and has tons of dark hair and dark blue eyes. He looks like a mini Troy and I LOVE it! He did come out with a little hairy back and shoulders which I always thought would be so weird but it is the cutest thing ever! He has done really well eating and sleeping and we feel extremely blessed to have him in our home. He makes our little family feel so complete right now and we love just watching him and loving him. I think we've taken about 400 pictures of him and he's just barely a week old today!!
He is surely loved and adored.
